Taylor, Wayne

Taylor, Wayne

1947 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that we share Wayne Taylor’s passing on May 23, 2024 after suffering a stroke days prior. Wayne left this world surrounded by what meant most to him, his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Terri; his daughter Crissy (Russell) and granddaughter Abby; son Tom (Kari) and grandson Logan. Also grieving the loss of Wayne are his older brother Al (Betty); his nieces Lisa (Jeff), Laura (Brett); nephews Jamie (Dawn), and Jonathon (Zoe). Other important family feeling the loss of Wayne’s passing are brother-in-law John (Audrey), and sister-in-law Pat (James). He is predeceased by parents Sandy and Lorna; father/mother-in-law Bill and Ann; as well as Irene Lilja (Mother of Russell Lilja).

Born a 10lb baby to an 85lb mother, he was always a big deal. Hockey was his passion and he excelled at it, playing in the “Little NHL” in Manitoba, and finally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings and although he didn’t get to pursue his passion all the way to the NHL, he continued to play, coach and pass that passion on. Wayne worked as a Journeyman electrician from 1972 until his retirement in 2010. Wayne’s devotion to the love of his life Terri, children and beloved grandchildren endured to the end. Wayne cultivated an amazing life in a home he built with his own 2 hands, in Standard, Alberta for 42 years, finally moving to Ponoka to be closer to family. Wherever there was laughter, Wayne was sure to be at the center. He will be loved, missed, and remembered for time immemorial by those that were blessed to call him family and friend.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Ponoka Funeral Home.

Memorial Donations in Wayne’s name are gratefully accepted to Old MacDonald Kennels, or any charity of your choice.
