Donald “Donny” Anthony Muenchrath, beloved brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2024, in Strathmore, Alberta. He is survived by his three sisters, Mildred Nashchuk, Kathleen Leggott and Doris (David) Kenney, as well as sister-in-law Henrietta Sanderson. Donny was predeceased by his parents Anne and Tony Muenchrath, four older brothers, Elmer, Gerald, Bernard and Melvin, brothers-in-law Bill Nashchuk, Frank Leggott and Robert Dahm and sisters-in-law Maggie Muenchrath and Alice Muenchrath.
Donny was born on July 8th, 1943, and was raised on the family farm west of Rockyford, where he was known for his love of animals, including his horse Dolly and his dog Rinty. In his later years he lived in Rockyford, where he enjoyed doing paint by numbers, woodworking and drawing cartoons. Donny, or “Munchy” as he was known by the town residents, was often seen riding his bicycle around town, sporting his plaid jacket and his ever-present pipe. He would often ride out to the family farm and was even known to ride his bike to Strathmore on occasion. Uncle Donny was loved by many nieces and nephews and was known at family celebrations for his fun-loving nature, his ease of laughter, his delight in being teased, and of course his healthy appetite!
Donny’s family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff and management of AgeCare Sagewood for their compassionate care.
There will be no funeral service at this time. There will be a family committal service at a later date.
