Ms. Sandra ‘Sandy’ Gail Hosick of Strathmore, Alberta passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the age of 68 years. Born on June 29, 1955, in Taber, Alberta, Sandy was the beloved daughter of John and Annie Hosick. Sandy was born into a large family as the fifteenth of sixteen children. She cherished memories of Sunday picnics in the park and spoke fondly of how her siblings cared for each other. Growing up in such a vibrant environment, Sandy developed a remarkable capacity to love and care for everyone she met. After moving to Calgary, Sandy pursued her passion for beauty and graduated from Beauty School as a talented stylist. Her family and friends often benefited from her expertise in perms, colors, and cuts. Sandy furthered her education at SAIT, earning her Journeyman Cook Certification. She began her career at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary and she later transferred to the Strathmore Hospital. Over the years, she dedicated herself to serving her community while raising her daughters, instilling in them a strong work ethic and profound wisdom. Among Sandy’s cherished memories was a European and Mediterranean cruise, which she counted among her favorite life experiences. Sandy had a deep love for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore new places with her loved ones. She enjoyed socializing, playing cards, and spending quality time with family and friends. Above all else, Sandy found her greatest joy in being a devoted grandmother. Her grandchildren were the recipients of her boundless love, unwavering encouragement, and infectious joy. Sandy’s enduring legacy of faith, resilience, strength, love, and kindness will live on through her beloved family and cherished friends. Sandy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lisa Lahey (Maurice) of Red Deer County and Tara Baldwin (Gord) of Strathmore; and her grandchildren, Charley, Oliver, Isla, and Niamh. She will also be sadly missed by her eight siblings, Annabelle, Sharon, Patricia, Caroline, Marilyn, Gordon, Brenda, and Deborah; and the loving relationships she had with Curtis Lien, Crystal Lien, Becky Allan (Orlando) and (Marina (Elijah), and Kristy) who held a special place in her heart; and her numerous cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sandy was predeceased by her parents, her four brothers, her three sisters and her cherished grandson Mitchel Benoit.

A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held at the Strathmore Alliance Church, 325 – 1 Avenue, Strathmore, Alberta on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
