Beloved mother and nana Charlotte Isla Hagen of Strathmore, AB passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the age of 87 years.
After retiring as a bookkeeper for many years in the Oil and Gas industry she dedicated her life to family. Mom/Nana forged a very strong connection with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After living in Calgary, she returned to Strathmore where she joined the Legion as well as becoming a member and volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary.
Isla loved to putter in the garden, tending to her flowers. She enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, curling, and playing darts. Isla was an avid traveller, taking many road trips to California’s Disneyland with her grandchildren as well as family trips to Scotland.
Isla is survived by her daughter Sandra Hagen, son Roger “Bud”Hagen (Marguerite), three grandchildren, Ryan Morkin (Allison), Jacelyn Morkin, and Eric Hagen; six great-grandchildren, Nolan Morkin, Owen Morkin, Julien Morkin, Desiray Pelland, Freya Hagen, and Isla Hagen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Isla was predeceased by her husband Roger Hagen, parents, Helen and Andrew Scott; sisters, Margaret Christensen (John) and Kay Day (Mick); as well as her brother Andy Scott (Bonnie).
Funeral Services will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 (230 2nd Avenue, Strathmore, AB) on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with Charlotte’s family here.
The family would like to thank Dr. Young, the staff at George Boyack in Calgary and some of Mom’s caregivers at Sagewood in Strathmore.
