Beck,Fulton Carl
September 17, 1942 – September 17, 2023
Fulton Beck of High River, Alberta passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 81 years. Fulton is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Sheryl Teasell (husband Scott) of Ariss, Ontario; son Trevor Beck (wife Bobbi) of Okotoks, Alberta; stepdaughter Lisa Norden-Infante (husband Ruben) of North Saanich, British Columbia; ten beautiful grandchildren; and his sister Linda Hinkle Prochut (husband Rich) of Marlton, NJ.
Fulton was born in Bassano, Alberta, and grew up on the family ranch North of Duchess. He graduated from Duchess High School, followed by two years at Mount Royal College. He then moved to Ontario to complete his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He spent many years in Ontario with his family and was successful in many sales positions there.
Fulton was a farm boy and Albertan at heart and loved the prairies and mountains, so he and his son Trevor made their way back to Alberta. This is where he reconnected and married the love of his life, Mary Leonard, whom he had known since childhood.
In recent years, Fulton and Mary owned and operated the Super 8 Motel in Strathmore, Alberta. Following the sale of the hotel, they purchased the Vulcan Auto Truck Stop, building a beautiful Petro Canada all-purpose service station and RV Park. During that time, they were honored with multiple awards for leadership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. He was well respected by all who knew him as an excellent businessman and an honest and active member of the community.
Fulton was very involved in the John Ware 4-H Club of Duchess during his youth. In addition to having 2 Grand Championship Calves during 4-H years, he won several public speaking contests. Of 2 delegations, he was chosen to represent Alberta at the national 4-H Conference in Washington, DC.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating, camping, fishing, and hunting pheasant (and larger game). He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
When Fulton was diagnosed with cancer, he continued to be a model for all of us in positive thinking and sustaining quality of life.
A Memorial with his immediate family only, will be held at a later date.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that all donations go to the High River District Health Care Foundation www.highriverhealthfoundation.ca or to the Cancer Society of Canada https://cancer.ca.
