Vault hosts super speaker

The second part of The Vault Cultural Collectives Speakers Series will be none other than Brian Keating. The avid naturalist, explorer, pilot and wildlife tour guide is a perfect fit for the Speakers Series.

“He’s very engaging and I thought he would be a very good speaker to have,” said Carolyn Steeves, who has been on the board for The Vault since its opening in 2020.

Steeves has been listening to Keating speak on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. on CBC Calgary Radio for years, a show he still does to this day. She has also had the pleasure of seeing Keatings speak at teachers’ conventions in years past.

Keating is the second speaker of a four-part series hosted by The Vault. Keating first started his career at the Calgary Zoo where he worked for nearly three decades. Some of his other accomplishments include authoring five children’s books and he has an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Brandon. He has been presented with the distinguished Canadian Hero of the Year award from Readers Digest Magazine and he is an honorary chief of a West African Village which helps support a hippo sanctuary.

Keating will speak at the Strathmore United Church on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7-9 p.m.

“There will be more room on the wall for his visual presentation also,” Steeves explains. “His events are very visual and intended for all audiences.”

Keating will also be presenting at the Strathmore High School in the afternoon of Nov.17.

“We are really pleased that he is speaking to young people,” she said. “Working with our planet and environmental issues are huge.”

The final two speakers in the series will be held in the New Year. You can find more information online (https://thevaultonline.ca).

Tickets for Keatings presentation can be purchased at The Vault or at the doors on Nov. 17 for $20.
