Cheetos leaves its mark

By Leela Sharon Aheer Chestermere-Strathmore MLA

Hello Chestermere Strathmore readers.

Cheetos® proudly unveils a statue to commemorate Cheetle, the official term for the brand’s orange dust (Oct. 4, https://www.fritolay.com/cheetos%C2%AE-proudly-unveils-a-statue-to-commemorate-cheetle-the-official-term-for-the-brands-orange-dust).

Did you know that the powder left on your fingers while munching on your favourite cheese-flavoured snack is referred to as “Cheetle”? That is the dictionary definition. This hilarious or as Frito Lay Canada has stated “mischievous” statue can be seen until Nov. 4 in our own Hamlet of Cheadle, located on Highway 24,  two kilometers (1.2 mi) south of the Highway 1.  I wonder what Mrs. Belwar would have thought back in the early 1900s, having the only building in Cheadle with a post office, a store, and a boarding house for the folks working the CPR railroad.

I have written about the new De Havilland Field in our riding, and it is exciting to see this plan come to fruition. The area will have an “aircraft assembly facility, runway, parts manufacturing, distribution centres, maintenance repair and overhaul centre.”

What is super exciting is the “educational space for training the workforce of the future is planned as well as general office buildings and a De Havilland Canada aircraft museum” (News Provided By De Havilland Aircraft of Canada, Sept. 21).

As always, we love to hear from you.
