WALKER, George Ernest
WALKER,George Ernest
It is with great sadness that the family of George Ernest Walker announce his sudden passing on Thursday September 2, 2021 at the age of 85 with his wife of 59 years Joyce by his side.
Ernest was born on October 20, 1935 to Abe and Lidie Walker. Ernest was the eldest of 4 children. Ernest resided his whole life in the Nightingale area. He attended Valley Garden Nightingale school and then finished his schooling at the Rockyford Catholic School. He left school after grade nine to begin his farming career with his father (Abe). His whole life was spent farming. It wasn’t till the recent years that dementia no longer allowed him to be active in the daily farming activities. In 1960 Ernest purchased the Jukes Farm to expand his farming career. It was 2 years later in 1962 that he married the love of his life Joyce Koshowski. In the winter of 1963 Joyce and Ernest were blessed with a son (Dale). Dale worked by Ernest’s side his whole life. Once Dale graduated high school he followed in his fathers footsteps and joined the family farm full time. Ernest had many accomplishments throughout his life. One that he took great pride in was sitting on the rosebud gas coop for over 40 years. A great joy in his life was visiting friends and family, and let’s not forget he loved a good game of cards.
Ernest will be remembered by his wife Joyce and their son Dale (Michelle); his grandchildren Brittany (Steve), Breanne (Cole) and Braden (Sam). His great grandson, Oliver; his brother Gordon (Eileen) and his sister Lynn Walker and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Abe and Lidie; sister, Dorothy (Dolly).
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Nightingale Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend there will be a video made available online with Ernest’s obituary.
