Town names new CAO

The Town of Strathmore has hired Doug Lagore as its new chief administrative officer (CAO).

Lagore replaces James Thackray who stepped down last summer as town CAO.

Lagore has over 30 years’ experience in municipal government and has worked as Strathmore’s interim CAO since August 2020.

Prior work experience includes chief executive officer (CEO) with the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council and the Capital Region Board, CAO of the City of Spruce Grove and District of Salmon Arm, and administrative roles with the City of Yellowknife, Town of Edson, Town of Lacombe and Town of Pine Point.

Lagore has extensive consulting experience, including multiple projects with the Town of Strathmore. He has also earned several awards for his service, including an Honorary Membership for Life award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Management (CAMA), a Distinguished Service award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, and the Dedicated Chief Administrative Officer award from the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association and the Society of Local Government Managers.
