Summer gymnastics camp underway

The Strathmore Gymnastics Centre’s summer camp has started.
The centre will have camp from July 5 to Aug. 16 where kids will participate in everything from gymnastics to arts and crafts. According to Head Coach Tara Smith, each week of camp will have a different theme to activities.
“So they’re doing just some different activities that pertain to the theme. We will try and do some outside time every day, depending on the weather, of course. We do crafts, activities and games. It kind of depends on the kids, depends on the group and depends on what the theme is, but we keep them busy all day.”
Along with the beginning of their summer camp, another source of excitement for the Gymnastics Centre is their upcoming relocation.
“We’re hoping to seamlessly move all of our equipment and junk we have in here over to the new gym. So it’s going to be quite the undertaking, but we’re excited,” said Smith. “The plan is to do some exciting new things in the gym that we think that our clients would like.”
Now with the province reopening, Smith and the centre will be hoping that the effects of the pandemic on the business are a thing of the past.
“Hopefully now we’re on the downward part of the rollercoaster. It has been a rollercoaster, opening and closing and opening and closing. We start to get momentum going and getting people involved again and then we have to close. So it’s been a struggle immensely,” she said.
Registration is open for the duration of the camp, space permitting. More information, including how to register, can be found on the Strathmore Gymnastics Centre Facebook page or their website.
