Summer break

Summer is here and the House of Commons has adjourned. But not before the Liberal government made some very underhanded moves. Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have gone to great lengths to cover up what may be one of the biggest scandals in Canadian history. The dealings between the Winnipeg Microbiology Lab and the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China have yet to be revealed – and if Trudeau has his way, they never will be. It was discovered that dangerous viruses like Ebola were transferred from Winnipeg to Wuhan, and two scientists employed in Winnipeg had direct ties to the Chinese government. They have since been fired, but we still don’t know the reasons why, or what kind of information, data, or physical material they may have shared with China. 

So, on the last sitting day of the House before adjourning for the summer, Parliament was notified that the Government of Canada was taking the Speaker of the House to court in attempt to seal these documents forever. This is a first in Canadian history – and maybe even the democratic world. The Liberals are hiding behind ‘national security’ as a blanket to cover up what really happened in Winnipeg with those scientists. Parliamentarians and Canadians deserve to know if their government had a role in direct association with the communist Chinese regime. Why would the Liberals be doing their damnedest to cover up this scandal otherwise?

Conservatives worked hard to pass legislation that would benefit Canadians – not burden them. That’s why we passed C-208 – a bill that would allow small business owners like a family farm or fishing corporations to transfer to their children, grandchildren, or family members without having to pay exorbitant taxes. This bill would keep Canadian small business thriving – that is if the Liberals would implement the will of Parliament. However recent news reports suggest the Liberals would repeal this bill entirely. How shameful. Conservatives are trying to help families and small businesses, but the Liberals are standing in the way to favour their donor class.

But now for the fun part! Alberta is officially open without restrictions! After a long, grueling 16 months, Alberta is the first province in Canada to open up entirely. Stampede season is here, and that means community events all over the riding. I had the pleasure of participating in the Rosemary parade for Canada Day, and later that day was happy to be part of the grand opening of Vulcan’s new community pool! For hot days like we recently had, the pool would be a great choice to cool down and spend some time with family and friends. I look forward to continuing to attend festivals, rodeos, and community events across Bow River riding throughout the summer and beyond! I hope to see many of you soon!
