By Janet Kanters, Editor
Two Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornets from 410 Squadron at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta. will conduct a flypast over Strathmore on Saturday, Jan. 9, in honour of Calgary Police officer Sergeant Andrew Harnett.
The flypast will take place over the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 at about 3:15 p.m.
Through this flypast, the Royal Canadian Air Force will pay respects to Sgt. Harnett, and honour his service and sacrifice in protecting Canadians and the citizens of Calgary, both as a member of the Calgary Police Service and as a former member of the military police in the Canadian Armed Forces.
The aircraft will fly over Strathmore at an altitude no lower than 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle on their route. Flypasts conducted by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety, and are dependent upon weather and flying conditions. The flypast is being conducted in conjunction with scheduled training.
