Henley,Margot (nee Kathol)  

Our devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died on July 13 2021, at the age of 88 years.  She leaves her loving family; husband Bob, daughters Brenda (Greg), Glenda (Wayne), and Melinda (Dale), as well as grandchildren; Stephen, Nicholas, Scott, Mark, Katie, Geoffrey, Christina, and Adam. 

Margot instilled in all of us the value, importance, and joy of family.

Born in Rockyford, Alberta during the Depression, Margot was part of a hard-working farming family of 9 children.  She began her teaching career in Calgary at the age of 19 and was a well-loved and respected teacher. In Calgary she met her husband of 63 years Bob, and together they moved throughout the Western Provinces raising three daughters, all born within 4 years.

Mom found great joy in her grandkids, and will be remembered for creating innumerable unique birthday gifts, and memories for all of us.  She lived a good life and enjoyed many travel adventures, cruises, pro-sporting events, the arts, and camping in the Green Bean.  Always ready to plan, prepare and participate in a celebration, she loved to sing, dance, and laugh.  Over the years she touched many lives with her friendliness, smiles, and sense of hospitality. 

In lieu of flowers, please continue Margot’s legacy of hospitality through an act of kindness.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada are gratefully accepted in Margot’s name at https://alzheimer.ca/en   We extend a special thank you to the bedside care offered to Mom at Laurel Heights and the support of Dr. Dusang.
