The Strathmore Handi-bus Association has new office space at the Wheatland County administration building.
Strathmore Handi-bus, which provides affordable transportation to seniors and people with disabilities in Strathmore and Wheatland County, needed space for its one office employee after leaving the Town of Strathmore’s old office.
County council approved a 10-year term for the organization to lease office space in the county administration building for $1 per year.
“I think it is a really good partnership with the space being here and it not being an expense,” said Wheatland County Reeve Amber Link.
The deal will help Handi-bus reduce its expenses, a goal which it is working towards, she added.
Having Wheatland County allow Handi-bus the use of county facilities is expected to save the organization between $12,000 and $16,000 annually. A 90-day notice is required for early termination of the agreement, should the county require the space.
