Cooper, John Patrick

Cooper,  John Patrick

We say good-bye to a big man with an even bigger heart…

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a patriarch. John Patrick Cooper, born May 18, 1927 passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 at the age of 93.

John was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Betty; as well as four sisters and daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper; growing up in a home of seven children must have sparked his love of large families.

He is survived by five children, Bobby Lou (Ken) Heibert, Mike Cooper, Daniel (Joanne) Cooper, Cindy (Len) Hallett, Randy (Leona) Cooper; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

John lived a very interesting life as a corrections officer for almost thirty years, and was a World War II Veteran and most importantly, a loving family man.

He spent his retirement years serving the community and was a member of both the Strathmore Lions Club and Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion.

John would welcome you into his home, he loved to tell stories and always had a joke to share. His smile would light up the room and you could see the happiness in his big smile and his eyes. He will be missed by all who knew him and by all the lives he touched. He missed his wife, Betty greatly and his family takes solace in knowing they are now looking down on them together again.

John will be cremated with no formal service to be held.
