Church offered a cool place of refuge from the heat

Hope Community Covenant Church opened their doors for anyone looking for a cool, air-conditioned place to hang out during last week’s heat wave.
The church’s doors were open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They offered snacks and cold water to all patrons looking to cool from the blistering temperatures.
Office Manager and bookkeeper at the church, Brandi Bobee, said the idea was sparked on Sunday by other church staff.
“We felt there was hopefully a need in the community because there’s a lot of people in this town who don’t have air conditioning, especially seniors and vulnerable people,” she said.
Bobbe says the church is not only for those people, however.
“Anybody who just wants to escape the heat is more than welcome to come on over and have a snack and some water and just chill out in the air conditioning,” she added.
The church plans on keeping its doors open for the week, and will extend into next week if necessary.
