ABBS,Douglas Walker
1942 – 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Walker Abbs, a devoted husband and loving father.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1942, he was a dreamer and wanderlust for adventure. His free spirit led him to travel most of Canada from the east to west coast including the arctic and a motorcycle tour of the United States down to Key West, over to the Grand Canyon, Mexico and then up the west coast with his beloved wife Brenda of 43 years.
Together they built their home to raise their family on an acreage near Strathmore AB.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, son Carver and grandson Brio of Strathmore AB, and daughters, Ashley (Sheldon Essery) and grandson Elijah of Calgary AB, and Carrollynn and her family of North Bay ON.
Predeceased by his mother Mary Ann and father George, whom he lost way too young.
Doug was a master electrician and taught at SAIT instructing both the journeyman electrical program, where he met Brenda, and aircraft technology. He started his own electrical company Brenda Electric which he worked for up until retirement. He loved to build and invent everything from motors to airplanes and racecars. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in the shop using his hands and learning new skills.
Our hearts will forever remember his unconditional love and support to dream big and chase the sparks of inspiration.
We love you and miss you forever and always.
