Woman charged in man’s death

A woman has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man in Gleichen on June 22.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on June 22, Gleichen RCMP responded to a reported assault happening in the southwest area of the 500-resident hamlet, near Main Street and 4 Avenue. EMS was dispatched to the scene, where an adult male was pronounced dead.

On June 23, police arrested and charged Rebecca Ann Yvette Raweater, 33, with manslaughter in the death of Danny Junior Eagle Child, 53. Both are residents of Siksika Nation.

Raweater remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before Siksika Nation Provincial Court on July 2.
