Terry Fox Run a go in Strathmore
By Janet Kanters, Editor
September is just around the corner, and so is the annual Terry Fox Run.
But with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the plans and run will look a little bit different this year.
“We (Town of Strathmore) are hosting the run virtually,” said Lauren McGougan, events and culture coordinator with the Town of Strathmore. “We are encouraging people to go to www.terryfox.org/run. From there, they can register for Strathmore as their location and donate.”
The annual Terry Fox Run is normally held on Sept. 20. Although people cannot gather to run this year, they still have until that date to register, donate and raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation. Then on that date, people can run around their neighbourhood, around their backyard, down the street or around the block. They can walk, run or bicycle.
Last year, Strathmore raised $4,035 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
