Chamber planning drive-through Halloween event

Strathmore will be staying spooky this Halloween, thanks to a drive-thru initiative hosted by local businesses.

With some parents hesitant having their children participate in the typical door-to-door trick-or-treating due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce is leading an initiative to have local businesses participate in a drive-thru Halloween event.

The event, held on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., will include multiple locations throughout Strathmore and Wheatland County, where families can drive up, remain in their cars and receive candy.

“For some families that might feel a little bit anxious about taking their kids trick-or-treating, this is going to be a fully COVID-compliant event, spread all over town, so your kids can get as much candy as possible,” said Shawn Kisling, the chamber’s executive director, in a video address.

The Town of Strathmore will also be participating, reported Mayor Pat Fule in a Facebook Live address on Oct. 8.

“It’s a fun, safe approach to Halloween under these trying times, and one that wouldn’t be possible without our business community,” he said.

Local businesses interested in participating in the event can contact Kisling at 748farms@gmail.com or at 403-324-5119. The chamber will provide a map of participating locations later this month.
