ARMBRUSTER, Henry Harold

ARMBRUSTER,Henry Harold

August 10, 1932 – October 3, 2020

Henry passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Strathmore Hospital (Palliative Care) on October 3, 2020 between 1:00-2:00 am. It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing.

Henry was born in Grayson, SK and moved with his family to Melville, SK when he was 3 years old. His parents were Valentine and Katherine (nee Miller) Armbruster.

Henry was the baby of all his siblings who have all passed on before him. He leaves behind his loving wife, Evelyn; daughter Gloria Haberlack; son-in-law Robin Big Snake; son Glenn Haberlack; grandchildren Tyler Haberlack and Carrie Haberlack; great-granddaughter Serenity; and many nieces and nephews, being especially close to Sylvia and Marilyn of Calgary.

Henry was a very kind, loving, and humble man and was cherished by all who met him. He loved country music and knew all the words to the songs. He and Evelyn loved going to dances on a regular basis and really kicked up their heels together.

From the age of retirement at around 48 years of age due to health problems, Henry and Evelyn were never apart except for Hospital admissions. They were inseparable until the day he left us. In his younger years, he worked on family farms, the CN railroad, and for the Calgary Board of Education as a custodian.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ben Sader for the wonderful care he showed our Dad, along with his nurses Roberta and Maureen. Thank you to the nurses on Unit 4 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for the unbelievable love and care they gave to our Dad while he was there. He was treated like family. Thank you to Dad’s cardiologists, especially Dr. Marr. Thank you to all the nurses at the Strathmore Hospital Acute Care as well as the nurses in the Emergency Department. A big Thank You to Dr. Ersh who was amazing with Mom, Dad, and myself in the most trying times. Finally, Thank You to the nurses, staff, and many friends at Wheatland Lodge.

Henry will be very sadly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his friendly, infectious, smile and that twinkle in his soft blue eyes.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. A video of the funeral will be available after the 13th.
