Information from Strathmore Town Council Regular Meeting
A motion to reinstate prayer in council was defeated with the majority of dissent deferring to the Supreme Court ruling and the legal opinion council had requested.
Council heard advice on sustainability of Strathmore Cemetery into the future. Members decided to accept the report but wanted further clarification regarding non-resident fees and plans for other areas in town that may be available to accommodate land use.

Fee increases are coming for town utilities and some fees, such as dog licenses. Town utility costs are aimed at cost-neutrality, but while they are currently self-funding, they are not yet self-sustaining; meaning the monthly user fees cover operational costs but not repairs or upgrading.

The long-term plan was adopted. Strathmore will see an increase in taxes next year. Council will reduce their spending by 15 per cent, while maintenance and repair will be deferred until another year; advertising and promotion will decrease as well.
