JORAWSKY, Harold Roy
May 2, 1929 – May 16, 2019

Harold Roy Jorawsky passed away on May 16, 2019 at Tudor Manor in Okotoks.
Harold was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on May 2, 1929. His family homesteaded at Alderson, Alberta, sheep ranching until the early thirties and then moved to the Didsbury area to try their hand in grain farming. After a few years they moved to Carstairs and by this time Harold was grown up and helping his dad farm. Harold worked in Calgary during the winters where he met Helen Skeen while they both worked at Peoples Credit Jewellers. They were married on September 18th, 1951 and would spend the next 65 years living life to its fullest, being virtually inseparable. In 1956 Harold and Helen moved to Strathmore with their two sons, Roy & Alan, to continue farming with his Mom & Dad. They continued to purchase additional land in the area, spending many years farming and welcoming four more sons (Jim, Gregg, Dale and Norman) into the world. Harold belonged to the Strathmore Lions Club and was on the board of directors for the Strathmore Co-op for many years. In 1977 Harold & Helen moved to Calgary to semi retire, pursuing other business ventures while renting out the farm. In 1981, returning back to Strathmore area, they built a home south of the original home place. In 1991 they moved to Calgary spending a few years before settling into Airdrie and then onto Westbank, Kelowna in 2007. In 2011 they moved back to Calgary to be closer to family. Harold & Helen loved travelling, spending many happy winters in Yuma, Arizona, touring through Mexico and making the long journey to the Ukraine following their retirement from farming and small business. Harold is survived by his sons Roy, Jim (Pat), Gregg (Dawn), Dale (Sharon) and Norman (Laura) as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Harold is predeceased by his wife Helen Jorawsky (Skeen), son Alan Jorawsky, sister Annie Nawosad and daughter-in-law Lori May. Harold’s family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Tudor Manor in Okotoks and Alberta Health Services for their invaluable compassion, care and attention during Harold’s final weeks.
