Strathmore RCMP have charged two youths after a thwarted armed robbery attempt in Strathmore
On Nov. 22, 2019 Strathmore RCMP received a complaint of a robbery attempt occurring at the Strathmore Convenience Store on 3rd Avenue. A disguised male entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded money. The male became spooked and fled the location without obtaining any money.
The circulation of some video footage led to the identification of two individuals responsible for this offence as well as a theft from the local Walmart occurring a short time earlier.
Follow-up investigations led to charges being laid.
Two young people who cannot be identified under the Provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act have been charged with one count each of attempted robbery and another count each of theft of property not exceeding $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in court in Strathmore later this month.
