Spurs begin new season
By Jessica Wolfs - Strathmore Rusty Spurs 4-H Club
The Strathmore Rusty Spurs have started their new year! We have nine members and are looking forward to lots of learning and fun again. We held elections at our Oct. 23 meeting and our positions are as follows; President – Alie, Secretary – Lily, Treasurer – Jessica, Club Historian – Waylon, District Junior Rep – Chelbea, Snack Organizer – Lucas.
We started our riding lessons in September and rode till the end of October. We are holding our lessons at Lausen’s Arena and our coach is Lorna Malmberg.
On Oct. 21, we had a full day of lessons with Lorna and a horse health clinic. A big thank you to Katrina Janzen for coming out to help our members with the clinic and leg wrapping. We are done our riding lessons now until spring so we will focus on our record books, public speaking, fundraising and fun activities.
Congratulations to our portfolio competition winners, Jessica Wolfs in junior and Aliera Chernoff in intermediate. They both won at club and district level, well done girls! Congratulations also to Aliera Chernoff who received her Silver Award of Excellence.
We are planning on a Christmas party along with Adopt-A-Family shopping on Dec. 4 and we will continue our year from there.
