REGEHR, Martin Wolfgang
Martin Wolfgang Regehr passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on July 23, 2018 at Sagewood in Strathmore, Alberta. He will be dearly missed by his entire family. Martin was born on June 5, 1940 in Tegenhoff, Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his now predeceased parents to start a new and better life. Martin met and married the absolute love of his life, Anthonia Helena Regehr (nee Boonstoppel) in 1960.
Martin worked in construction in the early years of his marriage and, in 1969, moved to the Strathmore area to embrace a farming lifestyle. Martin and Anthonia had 3 children, Lisa (Garry) Maier, Rodney (Trina) Regehr, and Jason (Tracey) Regehr. They happily raised their three children on the family farm and had such pride in their family and farm.
After many years of hard work, Martin and Toni moved into Strathmore in 1993 and eased into retirement. They travelled together to many different destinations and shared many wonderful memories together. Martin thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and especially seeing his precious grandchildren at family functions. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Kayla Jankovics and her son Odin, Justin Maier (Kylee), and their son Lincoln, Jordan Maier (Mackenzie Solyts), Jessica Regehr, Darby Regehr, Hannah Regehr, and Reid Regehr.
Martin also leaves behind his doting brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Boonstoppel, who spent many afternoons visiting him during his years at Sagewood. He also leaves behind two other sisters-in-law, Carla Pisani and Monika Regehr, and of course many, many nieces and nephews.
At Martin’s request there will be no funeral, only a small intimate family “Celebration of Life”.
Please remember:
Life is just a stepping stone
A pause before we make it home.
A simple place to rest and be
Until we reach eternity.
Everyone has a life journey
A path to take with lots to see
God guides our steps along the way,
But we were never meant to stay.
Our final destination is a place
Filled with love.
His majesty and grace.
Today we celebrate the life of a loved one
Who has gone before us.
The race he has won.
His journey has now ended.
His spirit has ascended
Claiming his great reward
With Jesus, our Lord.
