The students of Holy Cross Collegiate spent 24 hours playing games, spending time in the gymnasium, visiting with friends, praying and having some devotions, but one thing they didn’t do was eat.
The 110 students who gathered at the school from Friday morning until Saturday morning ate nothing during the 24-hour period but were allowed water and juice breaks every hour.
The students raised money through pledges in the amount of $2,000 to go towards CHALICE – a Canadian catholic charity that primarily supports community initiatives in developing countries through the sponsorship of children and elderly in need.
Teachers supervised the event, played games alongside the students and chaperoned the little sleep they got with a bunch of hungry, worn out teenagers.
The students gathered in the morning with rosary and prayers in the gym before being treated to a post-famine feast of sausages, pancakes, eggs, muffins and fruit.
