Wheatland Wildfire’s spring basketball program wrapped up this past weekend with five teams participating in the Shooting Stars tournament.
“The Wildfire boys teams had a better time of the weekend, all of them finishing with winning records,” said Kyle Larsen, main coach of the program. “The U13 and U15 boys completed the weekend undefeated over the course of their three games.”
The U17 boys were handed one loss but also picked up two wins.
The Wheatland Wildfire girls’ teams had a tougher time with both the U17 and U13 girls ending up with losing records. The U13 girls did manage one win, but suffered two losses, while the U17 girls went winless over the three game weekend.
Interest in the program has expanded every spring as new players come out to join in learning new skills and have fun playing scrimmages amongst themselves.
The kids really enjoy the competition against other teams that they have met throughout the various tournaments in Lethbridge at the Preliminary Battle of the Bridge, Calgary’s Visions Tournament and then Strathmore’s Shooting Stars Tournament.
