Suspicions, hope, and numerous questions about the whereabouts of a local man who disappeared last year were put to rest earlier this month, after the body was discovered, ending an extensive search.
Strathmore RCMP were notified on March 10, that a body had been discovered southeast of Carseland on the shores of the Bow River. The Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office and the RCMP positively identified the remains as belonging to 41-year-old Michael Ully.
Family members last saw Ully on Nov. 22, 2015. Upon finding his truck near Carseland several days later, search efforts ballooned led by the police, family, and raised awareness through social media – a Help Find Mike Ully Facebook page that gained nearly 7,000 members. The search also involved air rescue teams and several ground searches.
The death is not considered to be suspicious. According to a press release, the RCMP and the family wanted to thank the public, search teams, and media outlets who aided in the search for Ully. The family asked for their privacy to be respected during this time.
