Parking concerns at Cheadle

Wheatland County heard from Cheadle residents about the lack of parking around Cheadle Hall and baseball diamond.
Because the adjacent parking lot has room for only 30 cars, parking overflow spills onto grassy areas surrounding the ball diamond and on road shoulders.
A new dugout has been proposed for the ball diamond, and residents say ball players will want to park closer to it. “It’s pretty risky if they park next to the diamond and a foul ball goes through their windshields,” said CAO Alan Parkin.
In addition, residents cite safety concerns for people parking in ditches and along roadways.
Wheatland County Coun. Ben Armstrong said every town and village has open areas designated for parking and camping and no repercussions have come forward.
Council suggested the community submit a formal letter requesting that council expand the parking lot around the hall. In the meantime, staff will monitor grassy areas and see if damage is occurring to the sites.
