Both the Holy Cross Collegiate Hawks Junior B Girls and Junior B Boys walked away with the silver medal from the Junior High Volleyball Classic tournament Sept. 24 hosted by Clearwater Academy and Masters Academy in Calgary.
The Junior B Girls Hawks went 3-1 in the round robin before getting clipped by the St. John Paul II Collegiate Athletics in the final.
“We have a lot of new girls to volleyball mixed in with some returning Grade 8’s,” said Hawks’ coach Brett Warder. “It was a long day of volleyball and I’m happy to see they did well.”
The Hawks ended up playing five games during the one-day tournament. They will travel to Vulcan for a two-day tournament Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
The Junior B Boys headed into the finals after going 3-1 in the round robin and came up short in the finals, losing to St. John Paul II Collegiate Athletics in the final 25-21 and 25-18.
Next for the Junior B Boys is another tournament in Vulcan this weekend (Sept. 31 – Oct. 1). They will host tournaments Oct. 14-15 and Oct. 30.
