Mitchel and Mackenzie Desjardins were both rewarded for their sports abilities at the Holy Cross Collegiate sports awards on June 7.
The siblings each walked away with the MVP award for their respective volleyball teams. Mitchel was also awarded with the MVP for Sr. Boys Basketball and the Athlete of the Year award.
“It was a really great honour to receive it,” said the 17-year-old Mitchel. “Two days later, the basketball coach and our athletic director took the big trophy out of the case and put my name on it.”
The Grade 12 student has been playing basketball since Grade 7 and volleyball since Grade 9, and while he may not have any scholarships, he hopes to try out for university teams.
Mackenzie, 15, has played volleyball for about four years and also showed off her talents this year in basketball and track and field. She also plays club volleyball.
