Between 100 to 120 players from Wheatland County, Stavely, Carstairs and Beaumont will get to participate in the seventh annual Hockey Day in GA in what should be an entertaining, fun-filled day of shinny style hockey at the Gleichen Arena on Feb. 6
“Everybody seems to be excited about it,” said Cara Sheppard, president of the Gleichen Pond Hockey League. “I didn’t get a chance to sent out any invitations like I usually do. But there has been a really good response with people making sure that they’re on top of it. It looks like we’re going strong like every year. ”
Sheppard said they have a meeting after the day is completed and there is really nothing to change to the tournament. However, this year the committee has had difficulty trying to find a professional hockey player to attend.
The activities, other than the three games per team, will include a face painter, and the kids will receive a swag bag.
