About town in the Strathmore Youth Club’s new bus

A few months ago the Strathmore Youth Club purchased a new bus from the Handi-bus Association in order to help with their after-school program pickups.
The bus was purchased for the school runs that their older 50-passenger bus, which is now used for summer camps and long trips, was just to big to handle. As the club doesn’t use regular school bus runs, this smaller bus is easier to get around in and to park.
“We have an after-school program that runs every day and our big bus was just too big for us,” said Shannon Zieman, program director for the club.
“So this smaller bus is a 20-passenger bus and is way more maneuverable through town.”
The Youth Club managed to win the bid on the bus with the help of donations from ATB and the Strathmore Lions Club. The Youth Club had to put up $500 to buy the bus.
M & M Drilling also donated money to get the decal on the bus done.
The bus’s first major outing was for Bob Sobel’s Fill-a-Bus project, during which the bus was filled with food and blankets to be donated to the Food Bank.
