SWEERE, Antonius Arnoldus “Tony”
June 13, 1924 – March 5, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mourning his loss are Maria (Rita) his wife of 62 years; his six children, Jean (Ron), Fred (Lita), Jack (Cindy), Angela (Gerry), Betty (Joe), and Mike (Marilyn); along with his thirteen cherished grandchildren, Ben (Kim), Andrea (Chris), Kristin (Corey), Cody, Jordan, Brandon (Stephanie), Ashleigh, Julianna (Daniel), Emma, Sam, Derek, Brett, and Erin. He was great grandfather to nine precious great grandchildren. Tony was born in Zevenbergen, Holland into a family of ten children. His dream as a young man was to own a farm so in 1953 he immigrated to Alberta, Canada with his new bride of one week. He was able to fulfil his dream in the Strathmore area and farmed until his retirement in 1986. He was predeceased by his parents and all nine siblings. He also mourned the losses of their infant son and infant grandson along with Greg, his grandson-in-law. Viewing and prayer service was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Hope Community Covenant Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted for the Sacred Heart Parish Building Fund, (23 Strathmore Lakes Way, Strathmore, Alberta T1P 1L7).
