SAY awarded grant for disc golf promotion
Strathmore Assembly of Youth
We have big news!
The Strathmore Assembly of Youth (SAY), in conjunction with the Town of Strathmore, has received a $10,000 grant from the Makadiff Sports Foundation (www.makadiffsports.org). The youth who are involved in SAY developed a video application for the grant earlier this year. You can view their video online at https://youtu.be/wNDxaJNWbho. Makadiff received 49 applications and provided grants to nine projects across Alberta. SAY is honored and very excited to be selected!
The grant is to be used to increase sports participation in Strathmore, and the group will be focusing on community engagement of the Strathmore Disc Golf Course which SAY constructed in 2015. SAY is still in the initial planning stages regarding how the funds will be spent, but ideas include providing professional instruction to all schools in Strathmore, Play with a Pro nights on the course, hosting tournaments, and advertising in various forms. Look for many exciting events coming in the spring of 2016!
If you have an idea of how SAY could improve sport participation through disc golf in Strathmore, please contact the group at strathmoreassemblyofyouth@gmaill.com or via their Facebook page.
