The Rockyford Ladies will be holding their fifth annual Gala Night on Saturday, May 9.
Five years ago a dozen ladies in Rockyford got together and decided that the ladies in the area could use a night of fun and laughter, and if they could raise money for the community while doing it, it would be even better.
Hence the Rockyford Ladies Gala was born.
“The response was so wonderful that this year will be our fifth gala,” says Laurie Phillips, one of the original dozen.
Over the years the group has changed as people have moved away and new members are found, and every year the group keeps growing.
The generosity of their sponsors continues to be positive as the hall is donated, silent auction items are donated, door prizes are donated and the time from community members to set up, bartend and cleanup are generously donated to the cause.
The theme this year for the group is Ladies in Red. The entertainment for the evening will be The Travelling Mabels. The $50 tickets go on sale April 10 and can be purchased by emailing Laurie Phillips at phillips255a@gmail.com or phoning 403-533-2415. All proceeds are used to support local causes.
Phillips says, “over the last four years the group have donated approximately $65,000 back into the community.”
