Al “The Working Man’s Pal” passed away on July 5, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Kamilia; children Debbie, Rob, and Cindy; grandchildren Chris and Brandon; sisters Helen, Violet, and Mary; and many, many nieces and nephews. Al enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was teaching himself to play music or restoring antique cars. He loved entertaining people and gatherings of any size. He was also known for his debating. He was very imaginative and inventive and lived by the motto “Don’t buy things, make them”. His passion was cranes. He was a crane operator for many years and built many operable model cranes as well. He later became a business agent and then business manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) local 955, of which he was a proud member for over 50 years and was known as a first class negotiator for the union. After retirement, he came back to the IUOE as an International rep .
