Kings for hire

The 20 players on the Wheatland Kings roster are giving back to the community, when they will be volunteering their time to help out local businesses and residents who hire them to perform jobs around their homes or offices on Nov. 7 as a part of ‘Hire a Wheatland King Day.’
“The community supports the team, so they need to support the community,” said Kings Events coordinator Michelle Bishop. “Just letting them know the Kings are back and they’re trying to rebuild their reputation.”
Bishop said this was a good way for team building and for the players to get out in the community to volunteer, which is good to have on their resumes.
Some duties could include: yard clean up (raking leaves or snow removal), errands, hanging Christmas lights, window washing, walk a dog, wash/clean your car and help haul garbage. Safety will be considered with each job.
In return, the Kings will accept a cash donation or a donation to the Strathmore Food Bank.
A Wheatland King can be hired on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
