The Strathmore CHAOS club volleyball clubs are undergoing some changes. The girls team is looking at the possibility of expanding their teams, while the program is wanting to incorporate boys teams and is actively looking for coaches in both divisions.
“We believe CHAOS volleyball was a huge success last year,” said coach Greg Appleyard. “The way we look at success is the commitment the girls put in and by the end of the year, every week, every month, we’ve seen growth in the way they competed and in ourselves as coaches.”
He added that the coaches have to relate to the girls and boys players and provide a fun environment. However, the teams also have to show a good work ethic and have a high compete level.
“We want to compete,” said Appleyard. “We want to represent the town or the region. When we look at coaches we want to make sure that they have the ability to commit the time. The time can be anywhere from eight to 15 hours a week. We want to make sure we have two decent practices, if not three a week.”
Player and coaching applications can be found at www.strathmorechaos.com with the coaching applicant deadline set for Nov. 20.
Player tryouts begin on Nov. 30.
