Boulevard of Dreams will celebrate the Edgefield’s development grand opening on May 23 on the neighbourhood’s main boulevard.
Brianna Bowie, president of Bowie Bear Marketing and Sales Consulting, said the grand opening will include many festivities with a community feel.
“I have the Bank of Montreal coming with their bear, I’ve got a petting zoo and free food,” Bowie said. “Typically they have all the brochures of hockey and golf, telling everybody how good the town is and I thought ‘why not just bring the town.’ I think I’d love it if we’re in a new community and the town and organizations get a feel for it and get entertained.”
Bowie added that a parade will make their way down the main road of the new development at 2 p.m. and a town fair will be stationed underneath the Edgefield sign.
“No one’s ever done what I’m doing and I fortunately talked this developer into letting me try it,” she said. “They pretty much just jumped at the opportunity to come and meet new people coming into the town to sign up to their organizations, it’s kind of a win-win.”
The event has seen nothing but tremendous support from the community.
Bowie emphasized on how important this development is for the area.
“It’s important that we get these builders going and I really just wanted to put my 100 per cent effort into making that happen,” said Bowie.
Her company came up with the Boulevard of Dreams slogan because she believes people should have a feeling of comfort as soon as they see their new homes.
“Our branding and my whole idea of how Edgefield was started with a sort of ‘build it and we’ll come’ theme, a ‘Happily Ever After in Edgefield.’ A field of dreams, because originally it was a big field, so I was playing on all of that in fairy tales,” said Bowie.
Edgefield is thrilled with the event as she admits that they wanted to go above and beyond.
The event will run from 12-5 p.m. and the parade will be at 2 p.m.
