Betty Bareham passed away at 12:24 am Monday, September 28th at the age of 71 surrounded by her family. On the evening of the Super Blood Moon lunar eclipse, a beautiful, kind, generous woman peacefully left this world after a long battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Harold Bareham of 54 years, her children Darwin, Danny (Trish), Dean (Shelley) and Renee (Scott), her grandkids, Sienna, Dakota, Hawkins, Grayson, Damien (Erin), Danielle, Lisa and her great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Patrick, Alexandra, Athaliah, Rillian, Endon, and Zion. She is survived by her brother Ted Shanks, and pre-deceased by her brothers Don and Jack, her sister Shirley, her parents Pearl and Wilfred Shanks. She will be missed by numerous in-laws, cousins and friends. Betty’s kids were the center of her universe, and she lived for those moments when we were all together for big family gatherings. She loved her bingo (Bingo Betty), playing the slots at the casino, and a good burnt wiener. Betty worked for Wilson Stationers for 20 years, then for BMO, and finally at the Red Carrot where she got the nickname, the carrot lady. A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Strathmore Legion (230 Veterans Ave) on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm. 1515-100th Street SE, Calgary.
