In the 2014 budget, council approved the purchase of a vehicle for administration. The vehicle purchased is a Toyota Sienna.  A policy was drafted in regards to usage and operations and was brought forward on April 16 for approval. The vehicle will be available for council, directors, or employees travelling more than 50km away from Strathmore for town business. It will also be available for transporting event materials to offsite locations, for council, directors, or employees travelling within the town on town-related business. Those wishing to use the vehicle will have to schedule it through administration, and there will be an Outlook calendar that all council, directors, or employees can look at; but only administration will be able to make changes to it. Every person using it will also require a pre/post inspection of the vehicle. Council approved the administrative vehicle policy.

Financial statements
approved
At an earlier regular town council meeting, April 2, Darren Adamson from Young Parkyn McNabb presented the draft form of the town’s financial statements. At the time council decided to put off accepting and signing them so that everyone could have a chance to go over them. At the April 16 meeting Mel Tiede, director of corporate services, re-presented the statement, which was then approved. A copy of the statements will be on the town website, and a summarized version can be found on Page 6 of the Strathmore Times.

United Way funding
Last month the United Way Strathmore was accepting applications for grant funding. On April 15 United Way interviewed 12 non-profit agencies that had applied for funding. Councillor Brad Walls announced at the April 16 council meeting that United Way will be granting a total of $50,000 to non-profit organizations, and that the presentations will be happening at the May 7 council meeting.
