The Standard Lions held another successful stag auction on Dec. 5 at the Standard Community Hall.
This annual event has always been well received and attended, not only by local Lions members but also by gentlemen from all around Wheatland County for an evening of fun, food and of course the auction.
150 men attended, and the evening brought in just over $63,000 for community betterment projects.
This is the Lions’ major fundraiser every year, and auctioneer Cody Hayes from Wheatland Auction Services volunteers his time and services to the community group.
Hayes’ expertise and talent helped the auction along. The much coveted shovel that was hung at Cervus Equipment in Drumheller this year was bought by Strathmore Motor Products for $3,500 and will be placed in their showroom until the next auction.
