Every year Strathmore’s Shoppers Drug Mart hosts a Pink Party to help raise funds for the annual walk held in Calgary. The party will be on May 3 at the store. There will be fun things happening in store – a bake sale, silent auction, makeovers and more.
“People can book appointments ahead or they can just come in the day of. If they want a specific time then we do suggest they make an appointment just in case we’re busy when they come in,” said Allyson Swan, beauty boutique manager.
This year’s Run for Women, 5km walk/run or 10km run, will be held on May 25. The Run for Women is about celebrating the strength and courage of women across the country.
All participant donations and pledges support mental health programs in each of the race cities.
There are four women taking part from the Strathmore Shoppers Drug Mart: team leader Jennica Gordon, Brittany Coates, Ashley Rangen, and Elizabeth Nystrom.
“It’s something that we partake in every year, and raise a lot of money for. It’s definitely a great cause,” said Swan.
“I personally know people who struggle with mental health issues. I see them struggle and get no help and get nothing but judgment,” said Gordon.
“Being involved in the Shoppers Drug Mart Run is important to me because I hope to help bring more awareness to the problems that I watch go untreated every day.”
The store is still selling pink ribbons for a minimum donation of $2. The Pink Party starts at 1 p.m. on May 3 and will go until 5 p.m.
