Music Festival raises over $9,000

Mother Nature threatened, but failed to dampen the enthusiasm of attendees to the 2nd Annual Southern Alberta Music Festival at Aspen Crossing. The event was a success, benefitting STARS, ALS, Vulcan Food Bank, 4H, Mossleigh Lions, and Arrowwood Ag. Society, to the tune of over $9,000.
The music festival saw a pasture transformed into a hub of activity and great entertainment. In the center was the self-contained stage generously provided by Calgary Stampede and most appreciated by the 19 groups who provided a variety of crowd pleasing music including country, blues, folk and rock.
Statistics were surprising: STARS volunteers Mike & Gisele Dickson sold $3,700 of merchandise while the Mossleigh Lions were kept busy operating the beer garden. Fantastic crowd efforts helped raise almost $1,000 for ALS when Jason Thornhill and Tyler Foley willingly subjected themselves to the ALS Icewater Challenge. Mike & Monica Monner of Milo, AB popped $479 worth of popcorn sales to assist the Vulcan Food Bank Building Fund. Numerous other groups and individuals helped to make this event a success.
It is sure amazing what can be accomplished when communities work together.
