McARTHUR, Donald Alexander

April 23, 1919 – January 29, 2014

 

Don passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014, at the Sagewood Age Care Community in Strathmore. He is survived by Margie, his constant companion and loving wife of 66 years, and will be remembered as a very special dad by his children: Bruce (June) McArthur, Sandra (Mark) Ganes, Marilyn (Don) Stewart; Grampa by his grandchildren: Amy (Matt) Gamracy, Brad (Kelly) McArthur, John McArthur and Paula Kerr, Clint (Cortney) Ganes, Noah Ganes and Hannah MacLean; Grampa GG by his great-grandchildren: Cole, Manney, Hardy, Henry, Barett, Ivy and Isla. Our family cannot fully express our gratitude to management, staff and friends at Sagewood. They supported us all in our time of need and we are so happy that Don was able to come “home” from the hospital, and that Margie could spend her days with him in his room. Extra special thanks to everyone from the Golden Hills Neighborhood wing, who took such tender, loving care of Grampa for the past two months. An interment service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (1515 – 100 St. S.E., Calgary) at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at Strathmore United Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Strathmore District Health Foundation (200 Brent Blvd., Strathmore, T1P 1J9).
