On Oct. 4 the library invites you to come out and celebrate the second annual Library Day with them.
“Strathmore Municipal Library Day was declared last year by town council. Last year was a very successful event, we had Clifford the Big Red Dog, we had lots of crafts, games, a photo booth and lots of great excitement last year,” said Assistant Director of Library Services Carmen Erison.
“This year we’re hoping to continue on with that excitement by providing three hours of great entertainment for the family. We are going to be having a special story time, we’re going to be having special crafts for the kids, games for all ages, including a giant Jenga. We will have selection of surprises, but the biggest feature that day is we’re going to be hosting Dora the Explorer.”
Dora will be at the library from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., and will be available for photos. The library received a grant earlier this year from the United Way of Calgary and Area to provide family, fun programming which is how Dora is able to come to the library.
“What we anticipate doing with all of these Library Days is inviting a special character to come join us,” said Erison.
Oct. 4 is also library snap shot day, which gives a look at what a day in the library is like. That day there will be a record of the questions asked, who comes through the door and so on, and is a way to kind of promote the library as well.
Erison is also going to set up a whiteboard and have kids and their families write what they love about the library on it as she takes photos. It will then turn it into a promotional I Love the Library video.
Strathmore Municipal Library Day is open to anyone who wants to come celebrate from 1p.m. to 4 p.m.
