Want to learn how to bring your Halloween makeup to the next level? Check out the Strathmore Municipal Library’s Halloween Monster Makeup Class being held at the library from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
Janine Owlchild, a former summer reading program coordinator, will be on hand to teach you all her makeup tricks when it comes to creating your best vampire, mummy, witch or zombie face.
“The library loves to offer unique opportunities for programming.  The majority of our programming is geared towards young children and we felt offering a fun, unique program such as this one would appeal to a more mature audience,” said Carmen Erison, assistant director of library services.
“Besides, it’s that fun time of year where people get to break out of their shell and create a whole new creepy look. With this program we hope to help people achieve their spooky dark side.”
This is one of the few programs that the library requires people to register in advance and will cost $5 per person.
“Cost includes a tutorial and a makeup kit to keep. Each participant is allowed to bring one partner. Essentially we consider it a two for one deal as your partner and yourself will be able to practice on each other if they choose,” said Erison.
There will be one makeup pallet for the pair to use during the class, which one of them can then take home and keep. The registration deadline is Oct. 17 and registration must happen in person at the library. Because there is a fee associated with it online registration is not available.
