Alvin Koch passed away peacefully on September 11, 2014 at Strathmore, Alberta at the age of 85 years.  He was reunited with his wife Joyce of 52 years who predeceased him on May 16, 2014.  He is survived by his children Wendy (Dean), Wanda (Rod), Debbie (Ken), Dianne (Peter), and Brent;  grandchildren Shawn, Kayla, Megan, Karli, Amanda, Jason, Scott, Margo, Jami, and Jimmy.  Alvin is also survived by his sister Laura (Ern) and brother Frank (Rosemary) as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his parents Frank and Esther, brothers Kenneth and John, and sister in law Irene.  Alvin grew up on the family farm near Lomond.  In 1954 he started his own farm where he remained until 1979 when the family moved to Calgary.  In 1980 Alvin started working for Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance as an adjuster and fieldman.  After retirement Alvin and Joyce moved to Strathmore and enjoyed travelling the countryside.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Strathmore United Church at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to Prostate Cancer Canada (2 Lombard Street, 3rd floor, Toronto, ON M5C 1M1).  To send condolences, please visit Alvin’s obituary at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca
